New Amicon Pro Purification System for Protein Purification from Merck Millipore
Merck Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck, has introduced Amicon® Pro Purification System for Protein Purification
This centrifugal device streamlines the affinity purification workflow and minimizes protein loss. Users experience consistent, accurate sample preparation, resulting in more reliable recovery, uncompromised purity and easier data generation.
- Centrifugal device streamlines the affinity purification workflow and minimizes protein loss
- Combines the bind, wash, elute, buffer exchange and concentration steps into one device
- Supports additional applications including depletion of abundant proteins, protein enrichment and clean-up of antibody labeling reactions
The Amicon® Pro purification system combines the bind, wash, elute, buffer exchange and concentration steps into one device, eliminating risky sample transfers and reducing hands-on time. The device integrates affinity-based spin column purification with downstream sample concentration and buffer exchange. Featuring a large reservoir that accommodates a range of sample volumes, the Amicon® Pro system reduces the need for multiple washing and elution steps.
"Traditional protein purification is a long process with many steps, dilutions and multiple tubes, often resulting in protein degradation and loss," notes John Sweeney, Head of the Bioscience business unit, Merck Millipore. "The Amicon® Pro affinity purification system is a game-changing improvement in general affinity purification and also transforms applications such as depletion of abundant proteins, protein enrichment and clean-up of antibody labeling reactions."
In addition to fast and efficient affinity purification, the Amicon® device supports single-spin diafiltration and depletion with concentration in a single step.
The Amicon® Pro purification system also provides the ideal processing tool for small-batch antibody labeling. Antibody labeling and high-yield purification can be completed in as little as one hour. Antibody cleanup routinely involves the removal of BSA/carrier, labeling, removal of unbound label, dialysis, and final concentration. Using standard dialysis, the procedure can take up to three days to complete. With the all-in-one format of the Amicon® Pro device, loss due to sample transfers is eliminated and recovery can be significantly improved.
