Wyatt Technology
Wyatt Technology Corporation, the world leader in light scattering tools for nanoparticle and macromolecular characterization, is pleased to announce that this year’s International Light Scattering Colloquium (ILSC) will present a special symposium on the characterization of manufactured, environmental and therapeutic nanoparticles.
Sporting the theme of “Light Scattering in the Nano World”, ILSC 2015 will be held at the beautiful Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara, CA on November 3-4. Online Registration is available.
The full program includes additional presentations on the characterization of biomolecules and polymers in cutting-edge research. Satellite events planned include short courses and a focus meeting on method development in light-scattering-based formulation analysis.
The keynote presentation, “Measurement of Special Nanoparticle Structures by Light Scattering”, will be delivered by Philip Wyatt, CEO and founder of Wyatt Technology Corporation. Dr. Wyatt will review his recent work on multi-angle light scattering (MALS) and asymmetric-flow field flow fractionation (AF4) for size and shape determination of nanoparticles in suspension.
The nanoparticle symposium features four leading experts on nanoparticle applications and characterization:
James Baker University of Michigan
|
“Advancing Nanoparticle Platforms Into Clinical Trials”
|
Vincent Hackley National Institute of Standards and Technology
|
“Quantitative Analysis of Functional Nanoparticles with an Introduction to NIST Reference Material Development for Nanotechnology Characterization” |
Frank von der Kammer University of Vienna
|
“FFF-MALS-ICPMS Methods for the Analysis of Nanomaterials in Substances and Products” |
Paul Russo Georgia Institute of Technology
|
“Light Scattering Measurements of Anisotropic Polymers and Colloids” |
Attendees will also hear from these prominent researchers in the main program:
Joseph Arndt Biogen
|
“Challenges of Maintaining Structure-Function Complexity of Protein Biologics Throughout the Manufacturing Process”
|
David Cistola University of North Texas Health Science Center
|
“Profiling Nanoparticle and Microparticle Distributions in Human Blood using Dynamic Light Scattering and Other Biophysical Methods” |
Joseph Glajch Momenta Pharmaceuticals
|
“SEC-MALS for the Characterization of Complex Drugs and Sugar-Protein Complexes of Immunological Importance” |
Erica Ollmann-Saphire Scripps Research Institute
|
“The Molecular Toolkit of Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers” |
Brian Shoichet UC San Francisco
|
“Colloidal Aggregation in Drug Discovery & Pharmacology” |
Geofrey Wyatt, President of Wyatt Technology looks ahead to the event: “We take great pride in supporting many of the leading innovators in biotechnology, chemistry and the life sciences with cutting-edge technologies. In addition to highlighting our customers’ magnificent work, the Colloquium offers researchers across industry and academia a unique opportunity for networking and sharing the latest applications of light scattering instrumentation. If you’ve never attended an ILSC, this is the year to go! As always, you will benefit from a first-class slate of speakers, invaluable educational sessions and a platform to discuss best practices. We look forward to welcoming delegates to Santa Barbara for yet another worthy event, the 24th in the series.”
Delegates are invited to attend short courses run by Wyatt Technology scientists on November 2nd 2015 in Santa Barbara, the day before the ILSC begins. The half-day courses will cover a range of topics, including an introduction to light scattering, refresher courses on ASTRA 6 or DYNAMICS software, and the theory and use of FFF or CG-MALS. In addition, Wyatt will also be hosting a one-day focus meeting on November 5th, immediately after the ILSC, which will address practical issues encountered in light scattering applications to biologic and small-molecule therapeutic formulation. Guest speakers represent Merck & Co., Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and Janssen Vaccines.
