Quotient
Leading academics and delegates from around the world
gathered last week for Quotient Bioresearch's Autumn Seminar into the latest
approaches in the use of PK, PD and PK/PD modelling in drug development.
The seminar, held at Quotient Bioresearch's Bioanalytical Sciences facility in Cambridgeshire, UK saw over 60 delegates from the pharmaceutical industry meet to hear a series of presentations and take part in lively debate with key academics and industry thought-leaders.
Leading academic presentations included a key note review from Professor Bernd Meibohm, University of Tennessee, who examined "Applications of PK/PD modelling in the development of protein therapeutics"; and Professor Alasdair MacGowan's review entitled "Applications of PK/PD modelling in the development of antimicrobials". Prof. Meibohm wrapped up the day by chairing a dynamic panel discussion.
Delegates engaged in a varied programme which featured a series of talks illustrating how modelling can help to make key decisions in drug development with discussion topics covering all stages of development, and small molecules through to biopharmaceuticals.
Steve Pleasance, Managing Director for Bioanalytical Sciences at Quotient Bioresearch commented: "Our regular seminar is becoming a respected fixture in the industry calendar and Prof. Meibohm's participation this year, both presenting his key note review and chairing the wider panel discussions, further reinforced its status."
Steve added: "We chose a programme that combined in-depth talks that illustrated aspects of the topic within a broad scope. The seminar programme provided both entry points into areas of general interest and satisfied delegates' specific specialist focus - from examining the challenges of PK investigations to how modelling can be used to predict clinical studies - proved highly popular.
"The talks sparked interesting discussion between delegates and guest speakers, and we look forward to the continued success of our annual seminar."
