Vision UK Brings a Whole Host of Imaging and Vision Technologies to Photonex
Vision UK brings a whole host of imaging and vision technologies to the PHOTONEX exhibition in Coventry, 15th and 16th October 2014 and is supported by the UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA).
The UK's largest showcase event dedicated to photonics and light technologies now incorporates Vision UK and highlights for 2014 include industrial vision, machine vision, scientific and hyperspectral imaging.
Adding fresh interest at the event this year is the co-location of the HSI 2014 Conference. Now in its fourth year, hyperspectral imaging is growing in use, well known for applications in remote sensing, as an aerial sensing technique to detect and classify objects on the ground. Now hyperspectral imaging is being used in research and industry to determine viewed objects’ temperatures, chemical composition, moisture, fat and sugar content. On the food production line it provides high resolution and high-speed solution for imaging applications from moisture monitoring to food analysis and for sorting applications. Miniaturization and increasing spectral range are driving the latest technology changes and growing use is bringing down the price of cameras.
Vision UK is supported by the UKIVA, a trade association whose primary objective is to promote the use of image processing technology by manufacturing industries in the UK. Every year, UKIVA supports the event by organising a technical programme, this year a series of tutorials are offered free of charge to visitors. They will be presented in education style and are designed to unravel the jargon and teach the basics to anyone new to industrial vision as well as people wanting be brought up-to-date. These will be entitled “Tutorials: Vision in Action”, and will be all about training in the use of 3D imaging, cameras, lighting requirements for best performance, infrared on the production line, the new USB3 interface, lasers for alignment lines and more.
The majority of the UK’s and Europe’s suppliers to this industry will be exhibiting or represented at the show. Ian Wallhead, a US based supplier of specialist lenses commented: “Photonex is THE optics event for the UK. Despite the use of the internet, you can’t beat a face-to-face discussion”.
