Cambio, the Cambridge-based supplier of MO BIO’S world-class molecular biology reagents and consumables in the UK, has launched the PowerMag® Air & Water DNA/RNA Isolation Kit.

cambio isolation kitThe kit enables automated, hands free isolation of microbial DNA and RNA from any liquid or air sample concentrated on a filter membrane. High quality DNA and RNA can be purified from an extensive range of samples – from waste water, sea water and spring water to the air in an office or classroom.

The PowerMag® Air & Water DNA/RNA Isolation Kit is a magnetic bead based nucleic acid isolation kit that uses Eppendorf's epMotion® automated pipetting system. The kit, produced by California-based biotech company MO BIO, can be used for automated isolation of microbial DNA and RNA from liquid or air samples concentrated on your filter membrane of choice. Any common filter membrane type can be processed, from mixed cellulose ester and nylon to glass fibre (see Table).

The PowerMag® Air & Water DNA/RNA Isolation Kit follows last year’s release of MO BIO’s PowerClean Pro DNA and PowerClean Pro RNA. As with its predecessors, the PowerMag® Air & Water DNA/RNA Isolation Kit uses MO BIO’s patented Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT) for removing PCR inhibitors such as salts, metals, humic substances and other organic materials from filtered samples.

A novel, proprietary magnetic bead system – ClearMag® – for the isolation of nucleic acids without the binding of residual contaminants, singles out the PowerMag® Air & Water DNA/RNA Isolation Kit as the ideal tool for capturing inhibitor-free DNA and RNA.  Nucleic acids captured in this way are ready to use in the most demanding downstream applications including PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR and next generation sequencing.
