Dionex is proud to announce a sensitive, fast, and accurate new method to determine anthocyanins in commercially available fruit juices using simple dilution. Application Note 264: Fast Determination of Anthocyanins in Pomegranate Juice demonstrates the separation of anthocyanin compounds in various fruit juices in less than 5 min. This new method uses a high-resolution, silica-based, Acclaim® RSLC C18 column and absorbance detection at a visible wavelength of 540 nm to separate and detect these compounds.

Six of the anthocyanidins that occur most commonly in nature are pelargonidin, cyanidin, peonidin, delphinidin, petunidin, and malvidin. Due to their strong antioxidant properties, anthocyanins are of considerable interest to the scientific community and consumer

market. Increased understanding of their health benefits has led to a growing interest in determining anthocyanins in foods, nutraceuticals, and natural products.
