Detecting Single and Double Strand DNA Breaks in Individual Cells
AMSBIO has announced a new on-demand webinar entitled 'CometAssay: Detecting single and double strand DNA breaks in individual cells'.
Detecting single and double strand DNA breaks in individual cells'. Presented by Dr Sandra Woodgate, a Subject Matter Expert for this technique., this informative webinar explores how the Comet Assay quantitates DNA damage and repair from in vivo and in vitro samples of eukaryotic cells.
The comet assay or single cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE) is a technique to easily and rapidly detect and quantitate DNA fragmentation associated with DNA damage caused by apoptosis and cytotoxicity. The technique can be particularly useful in the field of genotoxicity testing, human biomonitoring, cellular response to DNA damage, and for screening cancer therapeutics.
In this recorded webinar, Dr Woodgate provides an informative introduction to the Comet Assay, how it works and how standardized CometAssay technology offers a unique system for reproducibly measuring DNA damage. Further the webinar includes real application data, demonstrating the use of CometAssay techniques for studying cellular response to DNA damage, as well as to screen inhibitors to DNA repair, test chemicals for toxicity and screen samples for environmental mutagens.
