CLARIOstar - High Performance Microplate Reader with Advanced Monochromators, Spectrometer, and Filters
Anything is possible with the CLARIOstar - Any Wavelength. Any Bandwidth. Any Assay.
Perfect for measuring and developing assays in fluorescence and luminescence, the CLARIOstar microplate reader from BMG LABTECH has Advanced Monochromators for flexibility that can be combined with filters for greater sensitivity. The Advanced Monochromators have continually adjustable wavelengths (320 to 850 nm) and bandwidths (8 to 100 nm) for excitation and emission, giving them increased performance and versatility over conventional monochromators. Spectral scanning is also possible in both fluorescence and luminescence modes with theses Advanced Monochromators.
In addition to fluorescence intensity and luminescence detection (which include FRET and BRET), the CLARIOstar multimode microplate reader is modular and can be configured with additional detection modes such as fluorescence polarization, UV/Vis absorbance, time-resolved fluorescence, TR-FRET, and AlphaScreen®/ AlphaLISA®. Additional features include: ultra-fast, full spectrum absorbance (220 to 1000 nm in <1 sec/well); enhanced AlphaScreen®/AlphaLISA® detection with a dedicated, high energy Laser; precise kinetic and cell-based detection can be initiated with reagent injectors; and an integrated fluorophore library makes it easier for assay development and set up.
Advanced Monochromators Have Filter-Like Performance
True flexibility with absolute sensitivity, BMG LABTECH’s Advanced Monochromators are the next evolution in monochromator technology. Employing patented technology, the Advanced Monochromators separate light into continuously variable wavelengths (320 – 850 nm) and bandwidths (8 – 100 nm). The result is true flexibility for choosing bandwidths, as well as excitation and emission wavelengths. In addition, the Advanced Monochromators allow more light through to the detector than conventional monochromators, thereby increasing the sensitivity in fluorescence intensity assays and giving these Advanced Monochromators filter-like performance.
Fluorescence Intensity Assays Using Monochromators, Fixed Filters, or a Combination of Both
The CLARIOstar microplate reader has the ability to measure fluorescence intensity (and luminescence) assays using Advance Monochromators, optical filters, or a combination of both. The inline optical system of the CLARIOstar allows for the automatic switching between individual optical filters and the advanced monochromators for both excitation and emission. The optical filters, which have a higher percentage of light transmission than the monochromator, are more sensitive in most fluorescent intensity assays. The monochromator on the other hand allows for more flexibility in wavelength and bandwidth selection without having to order new filters. Combining the two can allow greater light transmission for excitation with more flexibility in emission wavelength selection, or vice versa.
Spectral Scanning in both Fluorescence and Luminescence
Spectral scanning is possible in both fluorescence and luminescence modes with the Advanced Monochromators. This feature is ideal for determining the optimal excitation and emission peaks for newly developed fluorophores, or for fluorophores whose spectra change in different buffers or pHs. Similarly for luminescence emission, spectral scanning can be used to resolve the different luminescence signals in BRET or dual luciferase reporter assays.
This is just a glimpse of what the CLARIOstar can do for your microplate reader assays. With the CLARIOstar, anything is possible. Any wavelength. Any Bandwidth. Any Assay.
