Anything is Possible with the CLARIOstar Multimode Microplate Reader

Greater Sensitivity in Fluorescence and Luminescence - Convenience with Increased Performance
The key technological advancement in the CLARIOstar® is its new LVF MonochromatorsTM, which have much greater sensitivity in fluorescence and luminescence assays, including FRET and BRET. LVF MonochromatorsTM contain state of the art technology, incorporating linear variable filters and linear variable dichroic mirrors into their design. Similar to conventional monochromators, LVF MonochromatorsTM produce adjustable wavelengths from 320 to 850 nm. But that is where the comparison ends.
Unique to LVF MonochromatorsTM are continuously adjustable bandwidths from 8 to 100 nm. This is four times larger than the next closest conventional monochromator. In addition, LVF MonochromatorsTM avoid stray light because they use linear variable filters, not a metal grating. With much greater light transmission (doubling the bandpass, quadruples the transmitted light) and the avoidance of stray light, LVF MonochromatorsTM offer convenience with significantly increased performance and sensitivity.
Flexibility Redefined – Monochromator, Filters, or Both from Top and Bottom
Using fixed filters, the CLARIOstar® can also measure fluorescence and luminescence assays, as well as FRET, BRET, time-resolved fluorescence, TR-FRET, fluorescence polarization, and AlphaScreen® / AlphaLISA® assays. Unique to the CLARIOstar® is the ability to combine filters with the LVF MonochromatorsTM. Excite a fluorophore with a high transmission filter, measure the emission with a broad bandwidth on the LVF MonochromatorTM. Having filters, which can be combined with a monochromator, from both the top and bottom of the microplate, provides a flexible platform that guarantees no compromise in performance.
Ultra-Fast Spectral Scanning (780 wavelengths) in < 1 Second
In addition to filters and LVF MonochromatorsTM, the CLARIOstar® has an ultra-fast spectrometer for UV / Vis absorbance measurements. This technology allows users to spectrally scan an absorbance assay, 220 to 1000 nm at a 1 nm resolution, in less than 1 second per well. That is 780 distinct wavelengths in the same time other instruments measure just one or two. Ultra-fast spectral scanning will redefine microplate based absorbance measurements.
Additional Technologies Ensure No Compromise in Assay Performance
A dedicated high energy laser guarantees the best performance in AlphaScreen® and AlphaLISA® assays. Dedicated optical components provide the best fluorescence polarization, time-resolved fluorescence, and TR-FRET performance. Direct optics, not fiber optics, offer significantly higher sensitivity and performance in applications such as fluorescent protein cell-based assays.
