New SlimLine lab washers are big on capacity, but small on space

The new SlimLine range from Miele provides maximum capacity with a minimal footprint and is set to make daily laboratory tasks easier and safer.

The freestanding SlimLine glassware washers not only have a width of just 650mm – which is 250mm narrower than existing Miele lab washers with similar capacity – they are designed with ease-of-use in mind, offering a wealth of features and benefits to help labs in all sectors run efficiently.

Available now, Miele’s latest range is customisable with hundreds of accessories to promote safer loading and improved cleaning of a variety of glassware.

Despite its narrow dimensions, the machine has a large load capacity thanks to its chamber height of 540mm (two rack levels) or 690mm (three rack levels), plus its telescopic interior racking.  It boasts ergonomic design for comfortable loading and its 316L grade stainless steel chamber comes as standard, providing resistance against rusting and acid and alkaline exposure, for increased longevity.

Miele’s Dr Bernd Eschweiler has worked on the development of the product line for the past 12 months and believes it will radically improve the operation of many lab environments.

“We have worked hard to make continual design enhancements throughout product development to deliver new or improved features in this washer, in addition to its compact footprint,” he explained.

“For example, the SlimLine features 40 wash programmes, faster wash cycles and better water efficiency.  Customers have also been impressed by the accessories, which are customisable so different height injectors can be used within the same rack, reducing the need to purchase and store multiple variants.”

The SmartLoad accessories, including an adjustable cover for smaller items, are designed to securely hold of a wide selection of lab glassware to reduce the risk of potentially dangerous or time-wasting in-wash breakages. There is even a dedicated wash carriage for 50 litre carboys.

Users can customise wash cycles by programming settings via the easy-to-clean SoftTouch glass control panel.  The full glass door and interior lighting allow easy viewing of contents.

An optional electric boiler provides fast heating on short cycles and the electric powered hot-air drying system features an integrated HEPA H14 filter, sterilising the intake of air.

Optional features include a conductivity monitor to minimise any carry-over residue and in-built water softening capability.

The SlimLine range is available on a six-week lead time.  For customers’ added peace of mind, as with all Miele machines, parts will remain available for 15 years after the item goes out of production.
