Carbolite expands its range to include Gero high-temperature furnaces up to 3000°C
Specialist UK furnace and oven manufacturer Carbolite has expanded its equipment range with the addition of the extensive Gero series of high-temperature furnaces that provide temperatures up to 3000°C under vacuum, inert gas and reactive atmospheres.
Gero Hochtemperaturöfen GmbH, which has been manufacturing high-temperature furnaces in Germany for more than 30 years, was recently bought by Carbolite’s parent company, Verder Scientific. As a result, Carbolite now offers a range of thermal equipment from general-purpose laboratory ovens with 250°C maximum temperatures up to the 3000°C Gero furnace models.
The Gero equipment is widely used for academic and industrial research as well as for small-scale specialised production applications. Products are available as chamber, top-hat and bottom-loading models as well as several horizontal and vertical tube configurations. Specialist applications include debinding and sintering following metal injection moulding (MIM).
Depending on the temperature range and application, the equipment uses graphite, molybdenum or tungsten heating elements. Control can be manual or fully automatic with Siemens PLC and WINCC visualisation. A wide variety of accessories are available, including vacuum pumps and pumping systems, protective gas equipment, retorts and flue-gas processing systems.
Certain Gero models incorporate elements without fibre insulation, which allows optimum process atmosphere or final vacuum. The company also designs and manufactures a wide variety of custom-built equipment for specific heat treatment applications.
