Lab Innovations 2014 Boasts Biggest Ever Show
Lab Innovations, the UK’s only show dedicated to the latest laboratory technology and consumables, analytics and biotech equipment, returns to the Birmingham NEC on 5 & 6 November 2014.
This year’s show boasts its strongest ever exhibitor line up, with many using Lab Innovations to launch new technologies and concepts to the UK market. It also features a packed educational programme, with headline speakers Robin Ince, Quentin Cooper and Andrea Sella topping the bill.
Exhibitors
Boost Lab will be launching its Eddy Jet 2, which has revolutionised spiral plating, making it an affordable and viable option for labs. It avoids all the complicated cleaning cycles, disinfectant preparation, cross contamination, complex liquid handling, stylus calibration and noisy vacuum pumps which impede the advantages of spiral plating.
Retsch is launching its Emax to the UK market. This product is an entirely new type of ball mill for high energy milling. The unique combination of high friction and impact results in extremely fine particles and thanks to a revolutionary cooling system with water, the high energy input is effectively used for the grinding process without overheating the sample.
JSB will be showcasing its multi-dimensional gas chromatography system, the GCXGC QTOF, which makes it possible to unravel complex matrices. It allows both quantitative and qualitative data to be obtained, simplifies quantification and makes molecular characterisation of a complex matrix possible.
Visitors to the Gram UK stand should checkout its BioCompact II cabinet, specifically built to meet the most demanding requirements of both the medical and scientific markets. It is a compact refrigerator or freezer cabinet.
Merck will be exhibiting its EZ-Fit™ Filtration Unit, a ready-to-use, disposable filtration device for bioburden testing. The system is faster and more efficient than traditional methods, resulting in increased reliability and streamlined workflows.
Royal Society of Chemistry
The Royal Society of Chemistry will also be hosting a full conference programme, featuring expert speakers and sessions, covering topics including Horizon 2020 Funding, Energy, Environment, Health & Safety, Training and Legislation.
Robin Ince, presenter on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Infinite Monkey Cage’, will deliver his day one keynote address on ‘Curiosity Kills No Cats’! Quentin Cooper, presenter of Material World, Britain’s most listened to science show, will be headlining day two of the conference and will deliver his keynote address on the image of scientists. Professor Andrea Sella whose chemistry demonstrations have filled theatres around the world, will be talking about ‘Reducing the Environmental Impact of your Lab’.
The Royal Society of Chemistry will also be running Taster Training sessions, which will provide the perfect introduction into various aspects of the Lab industry, including gas chromatography.
Campden BRI
As well as offering industry leading exhibitors on a packed show floor, Lab Innovations provides a full conference schedule. Campden BRI, the UK’s largest independent food and drink research body, will again be hosting free presentations in a dedicated theatre on the show floor. In addition, this year they will alsohost a two day paid for seminar programme, discussing two hot topics - product fraud and STEC.
Lab Innovations 2014 will be held on the 5 & 6 November 2014 at Birmingham’s NEC.
