Based in Shanghai, the new service is directed to offer local support to pharmaceutical companies and R+D laboratories in freeze-drying process developments

Through an innovative sterilization & freeze-drying processes R&D laboratory, Telstar offers pharmaceutical companies located in China a qualified and complete consultancy service for the development, qualification and validation of process cycles, simplifying the assessment of a product's behaviour before the freeze drying or sterilization process, as well as adapting and optimizing the process before its industrial implementation. Formally established in January 2020, the new service has undergone a substantial demand for growth with more than 30 companies and hundreds of specialists who have displayed their interest in the new service and some tests have been developed in many cases, during this period.

Referent in freeze drying recipe development in the laboratory field in China, the new installation is equipped with all the necessary testing and analysis equipment for freeze drying process development, high configuration Telstar pilot freeze dryer, freezing microscope and residential moisture analyser, among others. The new service reinforces Telstar’s capacity to offer a more stable and locally support to pharmaceutical companies. The company has experienced an evolving increased presence of Telstar GMP freeze-dryers in China and currently let customers a complete support laboratory service to develop & improve recipes and test of samples and new developments prior to the process of production.

The company has had a presence in China since 1998 and has become a key player in the region. With a 4,500-m2 production plant located in the district of Nanhui Pudong, in Shanghai, Telstar in China is highly specialized in the design and manufacture of processing equipment. The factory provides support for the development of equipment and integrated process solutions for the international life sciences market and particularly for the Asia-Pacific region’s pharmaceutical sector. Particularly focused on the management of projects for freeze-drying technologies, specialized in manufacturing of lyophilizer loading and unloading systems, the subsidiary of Telstar in China has the mission of responding to the high potential of the pharma market in Asia-Pacific region besides providing local support to customers.

The company in China has been continually expanding its resources to support equipment projects and after sales services. Following extensive international experience in the services field, the subsidiary of Telstar in China now directly handles the complete process of project management of equipment manufactured in China with its own professional staff, in coordination with Azbil’s subsidiaries in China, Indonesia and Singapore for industries located in Asian countries. For large or highly complex integrated projects, Telstar follows a multi-plant management model, in close collaboration with its technology centres around the world.
