'Sneak preview' of shortlisted entries to feature in Scientific Imaging Competition as part of mmc2021

A shortlist of eye-catching images and videos has been drawn up for the RMS Scientific Imaging Competition – featuring as part of mmc2021.

As a ‘sneak preview’, the RMS has put together a collage of all the shortlisted entries across the different categories (excluding video entries) ahead of mmc2021. The images and videos will be uploaded to an online gallery available to view from the start of the event.

"Expertise and artistry"

With more than 150 submissions and an especially high level of technical skill and artistic quality across the board, the task for this year’s judges has been a difficult one.

Among them is Dr John Hutchison, Hon FRMS, a veteran of previous competitions both as an entrant and an adjudicator. He said: “It’s certainly been a tough job to create a shortlist from such a wide range of impressive entries, but as always, it’s a real privilege to view the contributions that come in, and to contemplate the expertise and artistry of the microscopists taking part.”

The judges will make their final deliberations during mmc2021, and a virtual prize-giving will be taking place as part of the Congress.
