The latest range of Purite ECO water purification units, available from SUEZ Water Purification Systems, is designed to minimise the volume of water and energy used by laboratories.

Depending on water usage, the new compact system can reduce operating costs by over £100 per month; where multiple Purite units are in use this saving can quickly become substantial.

The new Purite ECO laboratory water purification units incorporate specially designed reverse osmosis (RO) cartridges, which provide recovery rates that are considerably higher than normal.  Typically, the RO membranes used in smaller laboratory units have a recovery rate under 10%; to produce 5 litres of purified water requires the processing of 50 litres of potable water, of which 45 litres run to drain.  By comparison, the new Purite ECO unit has a recovery efficiency of up to 50%, significantly reducing the volume of water wastage.

In addition, the new unit features an intelligent stand-by mode. This ensures that water is produced consistently to the required standard and minimises power consumption.

The ECO option will be available on the full Purite range of water purification units, including the Purite Analyst, HP, Fusion and Neptune. The range is ideal for all Type I, II and III laboratory water applications, with purity up to 18.2MΩ.cm and flow rates of up to 48 litres/hour. Features include UV LED disinfection at the point of dispense, colour touchscreen control, and integrated wireless capability for remote monitoring and operation.

Steve Mines, SUEZ Water Purification Systems Sales Director, says, “The introduction of the new ECO option is part of our ongoing programme to help our laboratory customers improve the quality and performance of their water purification systems while reducing both capital and operating costs.  It also reflects our philosophy, as part of the wider SUEZ organisation of developing a truly sustainable business that has minimal environmental impact.”
