Malvern experts contribute to University of Leeds
Malvern
Instruments technical experts, Dr Stephen Ward-Smith and Martina Pfau,
will contribute to the inaugural ‘Fundamentals of Formulation Science
and Technology' course. Beginning on Monday 28 May 2012 at the
University of Leeds (UK) and spanning three days, this course is aimed
at industry personnel and academic researchers and will deliver a broad
overview of the fundamentals of formulation. According to its hosts, Intelligent Formulation Ltd and ParticlesCIC,
course presenters have been selected for their distinguished record in
practical industrial applications of formulation science and technology.
On day 3, when the course turns its focus to characterization methods, Dr Stephen Ward-Smith will cover the role of particle size and zeta potential in understanding and controlling formulations under development. Martina Pfau will present examine in-process measurement for delivering on-line real time process optimization for easier, smoother plant operation.
Dr Ward-Smith is Key Account Technical Specialist at Malvern and works globally with multinational customers on both technical and business issues. Martina Pfau (MSc) is a Process Application Specialist.
The Fundamentals of Formulation Science and Technology course aims to provide attendees with a good basic understanding of colloid and interface science. It includes the main processing, analytical and characterization methods used for formulated products and their key features at laboratory and production scale.
