Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces Larger Volume Vials for Cryopreservation

New Size Thermo Scientific Nunc Cryobank Vials Incorporate Superior 2D Barcode TrackingThermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the new Thermo Scientific Nunc 2 mL and 5 mL Cryobank Vials, completing the integrated portfolio of automation-friendly screw top vials. The larger volume NuncTM Cryobank vials incorporate superior 2D barcode tracking for effective sample storage, tracking and retrieval. With a standard microplate format, pipetting and robotic handling is made easy, while the Cryobank cap is fully compatible with automated de-cappers. These sterile, non-pyrogenic tubes are CE marked and IATA certified, making them suitable for the long-term storage of larger volumes of biological samples.

Being the same height as standard Nunc CryotubeTM vials, the Cryobank vials can be used with standard freezer racks and cryoboxes, eliminating the requirement to purchase new accessories. The narrow diameter caps are arranged in the same location as those on a 96-vial plate. Existing Thermo Scientific, as well as third party single tube decapping, scanning and pipettor equipment will be able to be used, effectively eliminating the need to purchase additional accessory equipment.

With space for manual labels alongside the 2D barcode, the contents of a Thermo Scientific Nunc Cryobank Vial is easily identifiable, making it ideal for the long term storage of tissue, urine, serum or plasma at -80 °C or in liquid nitrogen.
