Business in the Community (BiTC) - Yorkshire and Humber has recognised Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS) as a ‘High scoring new entrant' in the 2011 Environment Index, as a result of their focussed approach to environmental management and performance. SLS, established in 1991, have also been accredited with a Bronze award for achieving a 75% index score; well above the 48% average achieved by 2011's other new entrants.

SLS were presented with their award at the BiTC annual gala dinner at Leeds United Football Club on the 23rd June 2011. The evening was attended by some of the UK's largest organisations and leading business figures within the Yorkshire and Humber area; there was also a special guest appearance via video link from the Prince of Wales, a leading figure involved with the charity.
