A clinical MRI scanner can be transformed into an effective preclinical system using a simple to fit conversion kit from MR Solutions of Guildford, Surrey.
The transformation, which can be undertaken in around ten minutes, involves sliding in a carrier system linked to a separate state of the art EVO spectrometer providing superior soft tissue contrast and molecular imaging capabilities. This is a major breakthrough for clinical facilities which also conduct their own research as it enables existing technology to be utilised without the need for extensive investment in a separate system...
This problem is familiar to every AAS user: For each element, an individual hollow-cathode lamp is needed. Multi-element analyses take an enormous amount of time and work. Flexibility, too, is significantly restricted — new elements require new lamps. With the High-Resolution Continuum Source (HR-CS) AAS technology used in the contrAA ® range from Analytik Jena, these disadvantages of conventional AAS have become a thing of the past:

A new technical poster from Haydale Ltd. describes a cost-effective and repeatable method for characterisation of functionalised carbon nanomaterials.
Two key, but independent, problems facing the graphene industry are the requirement for chemical functionalisation (essential for homogenous dispersion and application) and the pressing need for reliable, cost-effective, rapid, easy-to-use and accurate characterisation techniques to determine the type and extent of functionalisation present on graphene material. Current chemical characterisation techniques including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy...

The Jenway Genova Nano is preprogrammed with parameters for a number of protein assays, several of which can be adapted for use with the micro volume accessory. Performing scaled-down reaction volumes has a number of advantages including reduction in reagent and sample volumes and use of fewer consumables such as cuvettes.
This application note describes the use of the Pierce 660nm protein assay kit (Thermo Scientific #22662) using the Genova Nano. The assay is prepared in a microtitre plate using just 10μl of test sample and has a linear range of 50-2000μg/ml. The assay is very simple and quick to perform and is compatible with reducing agents and some detergents....
