TA
Instruments announces the introduction of the Discovery MS, a new quadrupole
mass spectrometer designed specifically for evolved gas analysis. The Discovery MS complements the recently
introduced Discovery TGA, and provides a turnkey system for performing TGA-MS
experiments. Evolved gas analysis
involves the qualitative chemical determination of the products of thermal
decomposition or gas sorption reaction.
The Discovery MS features a heated capillary transfer line, so that
offgas products are efficiently transferred from the TGA furnace directly to
the quadrupole detector. Parts per
billion (ppb) sensitivity levels are realized with a dual-detector Faraday
cup/SEM system.
The Discovery MS is compatible with all thermogravimetric analyzers in the TA Instruments product line, including the Discovery TGA, Q-series models and TGA-HP high-pressure sorption and gasification systems.
