ASTM Award of Merit Presented to Jay Gandhi of Metrohm USA
Metrohm USA is proud to announce that Regulatory Affairs Manager, Dr. Jay Gandhi has been awarded the Award of Merit from the ASTM.
Established in 1949 by the ASTM International Board of Directors, the Award of Merit is the highest society award granted to an individual member for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. The Award of Merit was presented to Jay in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Committee D19 on Water through standardization of test methods and the management of inter-laboratory studies related to inorganic constituents in water, leadership in the development of membership participation, and service in administration of the Committee.
During his years with ASTM he has been very active in the review of many standards, and the coordination and participation of round robins. Throughout the many years he has worked to get other members involved in the writing and maintenance of many standards.
“This award signifies Jay’s hard work and thoughtful support of the ASTM for many years,” said Larry Tucker, Vice President of Business Development at Metrohm USA. “His scientific knowledge has helped apply scientific instruments to real-world issues that have an impact from product quality to the quality of life for the people that use them.
Jay joined Committee D19 on Water in 2003, and joined D19.05 on Inorganic Constituents in Water in 2005. He joined Committee D02 on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels, and Lubricants in 2005, D05 on Coal and Coke and D34 on Waste Management in 2009, E01 on Analytical Chemistry for Metals, Ores, and Related Materials and E48 on Bioenergy and Industrial Chemicals from Biomass in 2010, and D16 on Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Related Chemicals and D18 on Soil and Rock, and E55 on Manufacture of Pharmaceutical Products in 2012. He served actively on a variety of Task Groups throughout the years. Jay served as the D19.05 Subcommittee Chairman from 2007 until 2013. Jay now serves as vice chair of committee D19.
