The Exciting Potential of Electric Field Stimulation
Improved drug delivery and compound identification with the Cellaxess technology
Cellectricon, a leading provider of advanced cell-based screening technologies and services, presented new data at Neuroscience 2013. In a series of poster presentations, Cellectricon demonstrated how its technology can be applied effectively for drug discovery, particularly in relation to cytoskeletal disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
Cellectricon’s novel approach is based around electric field stimulation, and the posters, which include primary data, detail how the Cellaxess technology can be used to deliver pharmacologically active molecules to neuronal cultures without compromising cell viability or functionality.
The poster session also revealed an assay for the high-throughput identification of compounds that modulate neuronal excitability. In this way, attendees were shown how compound characterization and data-based decision making can be achieved early in a project life-cycle, reducing unnecessary time and cost.
The poster presentations took place on 11-13 November, and Cellectricon employees were on-hand to answer any questions during this time.
Poster presentations...
Small Molecule Delivery into primary neuronal cells capillary-electrod Electroporation
A method for patch-clamp recordings of fast-acting ion channels in rat dorsal root ganglion cells
Characterization of the subpopulation of neurons responding in an electric field stimulation assay
Cellectricon provides state-of-the-art discovery services and enabling technologies to accelerate drug discovery and cell-based research. Our compound profiling services in excitable cells and native tissue provide researchers with decision-making insight into the science of cytoskeletal disturbances, with an initial focus on chronic pain.
