Glastic

As we are sure you aware, solid glass limited volume vials are usually more expensive than what you or your customers would like to pay for.

Glastic VialsThis isn’t a new problem.  As a matter of fact, in the late-70’s when Jerry Finneran was working for another company, in the plastics department, he was trying to think of ways to reduce the cost of such a vial.  He suggested that using a plastic vial, since plastic is less expensive than glass, and bonding a glass insert inside it, which would maintain the glass surface being in contact with samples that the lab techs required, would reduce the cost of the vial.  After presenting this idea to both the glass and plastic department heads, he was quickly told that this mixing of glass and plastic could not be done.  A couple of years later, after Jerry left the company to start his own plastics fabricating business, he decided to make his idea a reality by manufacturing Glastic; a thermoplastic polymer outer vial with a limited volume glass insert bonded inside.

The Glastic 12x32mm Vial is available with several finishes - 11mm Snap Ring™ Crimp, 8-425mm Screw Thread or 9mm Screw Thread.  These vials are specifically designed to work in robotic arm autosamplers such as those available from Agilent and others.

The 15x45mm Glastic Vial is available with our patented 13mm Snap Seal™ Crimp Top Finish or the standard 13-425mm Screw Thread Finish.  The vials are designed to work in Shimadzu and Waters WISP™ 48 Position autosamplers.

So as a result of this success story, other lab suppliers copied the design.  Why settle for imitations, always go with “The Original”.
