BÜCHI Labortechnik AG, a leading provider of laboratory equipment, has added the Rotavapor® R-80 System to its portfolio. This entry-level instrument offers BUCHI quality at an affordable price and ensures the efficient use of laboratory space. It also leads the way for more environmentally conscious evaporation solutions. As the first company to commercialize the rotary evaporator, BUCHI has remained the market leader for many decades...
The evaporation of solvents is a routine process widely used in the laboratory. It is therefore all the more important that the instruments optimally support the user’s working methods and are matched to the conditions and needs of the laboratory
The Rotavapor R-210/215 is the most efficient rotary evaporator in the market. The high power heating bath enables a quick operation start and provides enough power for high distillation rates of all kind of solvents. Parallel to the heating sources the cooling surface of the condensers is adequate big to ensure a complete condensation. This enhances the recovery rate of the solvent and protects the environment.

The costs of buying and of disposing of solvents are increasing. Recycling is an alternative. Many solvents like Acetone, Ethanol, Ethyl acetate, Hexane and others are often used and are easy to recycle. The easiest way to do this is by distillation in a rotary evaporator
The most important step is the way in which the used solvent is collected. The cleaner the collected solvent is, the better the separation. This process is already very well established in universities, where "green chemistry" is a part of the education. Depending on the impurities of the waste solvent, a purification of > 95% is possible.

Your successful start in microencapsulation
Oct 24, 2011BUCHI's latest products - the Encapsulator B-390 and B-395 Pro - are new systems for the immobilization of enzymes, drugs, flavours & fragrances, vitamins, oils, cells or microbes into a wide range of polymers, such as alginate, carrageen, cellulose sulphate, chitosan, gelatine or pectin, as well as waxes. Uniform capsules and beads are produced with the same technology. Their size is pre-selectable in the range of 0.15 mm to 2 mm with a spherical shape and narrow size distribution (< 5% standard deviation) and a productivity of up to 6'000 beads per second.
