QImaging
QImaging's optiMOS Scientific CMOS (sCMOS) camera for fluorescence microscopy has won a Laboratory Equipment Readers' Choice Award in the "Optics & Image Analyzers" category. Award entries were evaluated and voted on by a panel of Laboratory Equipment readers and selected by the magazine's editors.
"The optiMOS sCMOS camera is a budget-friendly CCD alternative that gives cell biologists the performance they need to capture rapid cellular dynamics without the data management hassles typically associated with digital microscopy," said Chris Ryan, QImaging's product manager. "We are honored to have Laboratory Equipment'sreaders recognize our product's achievements."
The 6th Annual Readers' Choice Award celebrates "excellence in product design and performance for the tools and materials used by scientists and engineers in research laboratories." Winners will be published in the July issue of Laboratory Equipment.
An alternative to traditional CCD cameras, the optiMOS offers high-speed (100 frames per second), low noise (<2e- of read noise) live cell imaging capabilities across a 45 percent larger field of view. It also delivers 10x the time resolution of CCD cameras without compromising resolution or sensitivity.
The optiMOS is ideal for cell biologists using live cell, multicolor fluorescence; biophysicists studying membrane dynamics and protein and lipid trafficking; and neuroscientists looking at ion transport such as electrophysiology, calcium imaging and ratiometric imaging.
