Pittcon Launches Online Scientific Community
Pittsburgh, PA, December 10, 2009 - Pittcon is pleased to announce the launch of Pittconnect, its new online scientific community. Pittconnect.com was created to provide an online resource for scientists from all over the world to connect with each other to discuss problems, techniques, research, etc. In addition to listing the 1,936 technical sessions that will be presented at Pittcon 2010, Pittconnect provides contact information to enable users to communicate with colleagues, Pittcon 2010 speakers and exhibitors prior to and after the event. Once a participant has completed a short profile, he or she can begin to network by viewing the map displaying the sessions, exhibitors, and other users related to one's specific interests.
Marketing Chairman John Varine commented, "We continually look for ways to add value to the Pittcon experience. We believe Pittconnect will extend the value of the conference and exposition from one week out of the year to a 365-day ongoing dialogue among conferees, prospective conferees, speakers, and exhibitors ." He added, "We encourage all those in the laboratory science field to create a profile in Pittconnect."
Future enhancements planned for the Pittconnect.com site include expanding the number of available groups and adding profile links to the popular social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Twitter.
