Pittcon Announces the 2012 Pittsburgh Conference Memorial National College Grant Awardees
The
Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, a
Pennsylvania non-profit corporation, is proud to announce its 2012 Pittsburgh Conference
Memorial National College Grant (PCMNCG) recipients. The maximum funding
available this year for each grant is $10,000 and is awarded to the science
departments of colleges with less than 5,000 full-time students for the
purchase of scientific equipment, audio-visual or other teaching aids, and/or
library materials for use in the teaching of science at the undergraduate
level.
This year's awardees are as follows:
Approximately 59 proposals were evaluated by the committee which consists of members of the two societies that sponsor Pittcon, the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh (SACP) and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh (SSP).
Since 1974, PCMNCG has awarded more than 280 grants to over 210 institutions. Examples of equipment and instruments funded in previous years include an AA spectrometer, UV/VIS detector for HPLC plus columns, gas chromatograph, camera and software for a fluorescence microscope-to name a few.
