Labcold, an ISO9001 certified UK specialist manufacturer of medical and scientific refrigeration, will be unveiling a new range of ATEX fridges and freezers to complement their existing range of laboratory cooling products at this year’s Lab Innovations.

Labcold have been supplying science since 1932, so have over 90 years of experience in producing equipment the meets the demands of laboratory professionals. This is why Labcold equipment is used in a vast range of laboratory settings, from NHS blood transfusion and biomedical science laboratories, to universities, research and industrial labs.

The Labcold laboratory range includes sample and reagent refrigeration, large Advanced refrigerators and freezers with stainless steel interiors, blood banks, plasma freezers and Platelet incubators and agitators, ultra low temperature freezers, including under bench models, ice makers and cooled incubators, plus our ever popular sparkfree range of refrigerators and freezers.

However, for some of our customers it became clear that sparkfree cabinets, that is fridges and freezers where all sources of ignition are removed from the inside of the cabinet, were not enough to meet their stringent safety regulations. With this in mind and the fact that fire is an all too common and potentially devastating laboratory hazard, Labcold developed an ATEX range to cater for those customers with more exacting requirements.

The new Labcold ATEX range of refrigerators and freezers has been designed to go beyond the safety provided by the sparkfree models with an interior which is licensed as a Zone 2 hazardous area under 2014/34/EU (ATEX Directive) in order to store products which are classed in explosion group IIB+H2and temperature class T6 under 2014/34/EU (ATEX Directive).

Sales director, Michelle Rogers said; “We’re delighted to now be able to offer our customers a full range of fridges and freezers designed specifically to help with laboratory safety and regulatory compliance. Whilst the sparkfree range does provide a robust level of lab safety, we wanted to be able to provide an ATEX range for those who needed a product that fully met more demanding safety certification.”

Like the Labcold sparkfree range, the ATEX range comprises of refrigerators with 66 litre, 150 litre and 400 litre capacity and the freezers are available with capacities of 66 litre, 124 litre and 406 litre. All are fitted with an external digital temperature display and the controller has a high and low temperature and door open audible and visual alarm. All models are fitted with a key lock and backed by a UK 2 year parts and labour warranty.

If you require your fridge or freezer to be calibrated Labcold can provide manufacturer’s calibration certificates from our ISO17025 UKAS accredited temperature calibration laboratory #8898. Labcold can also provide annual maintenance and calibration contracts through their Labshield brand designed to keep your equipment running better for longer.

If you want to find out more about the new Labcold ATEX range, they will be on display at Lab Innovations stand H31. Labcold’s friendly and knowledgeable team will be available to answer any questions you may have about these models and any other products in the Labcold range. For penguin fans, Labcold will also have lots of Labcold penguins to give away plus a free to enter competition to win a Bath Aqua Glass penguin.
