Copley Scientific Launches a New Solution for Reproducible Dishwasher Detergent Testing
A new accessory for the Copley Scientific Tergotometer enables cost-efficient, reproducible dishwasher detergent testing within the lab.
The scaled down test environment offered by the well-established Tergotometer provides representative testing while using minimal quantities of detergent. The resulting data enables the robust assessment and comparison of detergent performance, to accelerate product development.
The testing of detergents and associated products can be time-consuming and potentially subjective. The new accessory for the Tergotometer, in contrast, makes it possible to test detergents in the lab under closely controlled conditions, so as to directly compare and contrast performance. The Tergotometer consists of eight lab-scale washing machine/dishwasher stations within a single compact bench top instrument, allowing eight samples to be processed simultaneously under controlled conditions of speed, time and temperature. A simple programmable user interface permits agitation speed and temperature to be monitored and controlled throughout the testing procedure via the digital keypad and display . Output of the test conditions via printer or RS232 to a computer are also possible.
The new accessory is easily applied to the standard Tergotometer agitator and holds six glass microscope slides, mounted at angles, close to the side of the test vessel. These can be coated with standardised soil to represent the food debris likely to be encountered during routine product use. Post-testing the plates are easily removed for drying and subsequent analysis, to quantify the effectiveness of soil removal, typically by photometry.
