Msoft Blood-Tracking Technology Snapped Up By The Royal Melbourne Hospital

A leading British healthcare software company is to introduce its innovative blood-tracking technology to hospitals in Australia for the first time.

The Royal Melbourne is the first hospital in Australia to introduce MSoft eSolutions’ cutting edge Blood360 technology which is in widespread use in the UK – where it is known as Bloodhound.

Blood360 controls access to and from all blood fridges with rigorous security and safety ensuring that only approved staff are allowed to access blood. The firm’s blood-tracking solution provides positive identification of users and patients and in-depth auditing of all bloods across each and every stage of the transfusion process – to help get the right blood into the right patient.

MSoft is currently in Australia attending the annual meeting of the HAA in Queensland, which takes place on October 20-23.

Dr Giles Kelsey, a Haematologist in the Department of Diagnostic Haematology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, said: “The Royal Melbourne Hospital is very proud to be the first in Australia to trial the electronic blood-tracking system, Blood360. The decision to trial Blood360 was made to improve patient safety and comply with the new NSQHS standards in Blood Management. We are looking forward to working with MSoft and its partners on the install later this month.”

Matt McAlister, Managing Director of Merseyside-based MSoft eSolutions, said: “We are excited to be working with The Royal Melbourne and for them to be ground-breaking in being the first hospital in Australia to implement our technology.

“We are helping them to enhance patient safety and significantly reduce the costs associated with the blood transfusion process.”

MSoft, whose head office is in Bromborough, Wirral, is working closely with its Australian distributor Healthcare Software (HCS) to introduce Blood360 to other hospitals in states across the country.
