MSoft eSolutions Wins Prestigious Medical and Life Sciences Award
The Merseyside-headquartered firm picked up the award at a leading business awards event in Warrington.
MSoft won the Made in the North West Medical and Life Sciences Company of the Year and now goes through to compete for the national award in the same category at the International Festival for Business in Liverpool in July.
MSoft beat off stiff competition from other leading companies in the category including Redx Pharma, Biofortuna, Arcis Altos and Perfectus Biomed. Judges said that “the software company was the standout winner”.
The honour for MSoft follows a phenomenal couple of years in which it has doubled turnover to £2.2million and is on course to increase again to £3million. Staff numbers have risen from 18 to 29.
MSoft’s Bloodhound software solution for NHS and private hospitals controls access to and from all blood fridges with rigorous security and safety ensuring that only approved staff are allowed to access blood. The firm’s blood-tracking solution provides positive identification of users and patients and in depth auditing of all bloods across each and every stage of the transfusion process – to help get the right blood into the right patient.
The company’s Bedside Transfusion Management System further allows each bar-coded blood unit to be matched with the patient’s bar-coded wristband in a matter of seconds prompting the health professional to take timely observations.
Further product innovations in the past year have included Vital360 bedside decision support software giving instant access to patient vital statistics, observation charts and life-saving calculations; its blood sample taking and management solution Sample360 and PPID360, the company’s positive patient identification system.
The judges were particularly impressed by Bloodhound’s latest software application which allows nurses to use Apple iPod technology at the patient’s bedside as part of the blood-tracking process.
The Bromborough-based company won all ten tenders for which it competed in the past 18 months.
MSoft has also won its first international contract to implement Bloodhound – or Blood360 as it is branded overseas – at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia.
Company founder and Managing Director Matt McAlister said: “The Made in the North West award is recognition of the work we have done to establish ourselves as the UK’s leading software provider of tracking and management systems that dramatically improve efficiencies in time, traceability, usability, cost and, most importantly of all, patient safety.
“The MSoft team prides itself on its flexible approach, fitting its solutions around a customer’s specific requirements and working practices rather than imposing an off-the-shelf solution on its customers.
“To have a 100 per cent record on tenders tells us that we have got our business and the innovative products we offer right. Customers tell us they like the fact that we are flexible, respond to their specific needs, move quickly and are constantly looking to innovate and improve upon the products and services that we offer.
“2013 was a truly breakthrough year for MSoft eSolutions because we have firmly established ourselves as the number one provider of blood-tracking solutions in the UK and have also begun to break export markets overseas.
“The issue of patient safety is now firmly at the top of the government agenda at home and abroad and the solutions we offer enable healthcare managers to ensure that the systems and procedures they have in place to protect patients are as efficient, robust and dynamic as they can possibly be.”
