A Better Alternative to the Traditional Cryo Tube

3.00ml Tubes with External Thread Hybrid in Rack

Micronic expands their range of ‘Hybrid’ tubes by introducing two innovative tubes that provide a better alternative to traditional cryo tubes.

The so called 2.00ml and 3.00ml tubes with external thread hybrid guarantee sample traceability, optimize working volume and increase overall sample storage efficiency.

The transparent part of the tube walls enable easy visual checking of the sample, while the 4 coding concepts guarantee sample traceability. Samples can be identified with the 2D Data-Matrix, 1D barcode, numeric human readable or by the written codes on the white surface of the tube. The unique combination of coding concepts, and the dimensions of the tubes, make the Hybrid tubes extremely versatile. The tubes are compatible with ANSI / SLAS format racks, standard cryo boxes, automated stores and liquid handlers.

The high contrast 1D, 2D and human-readable codes are permanently laser-etched into the white surfaces, so that they can never wear or fall off. The white bottom and tube walls cannot be separated from the transparent tube due to the unique 2 component injection molding technique that Micronic uses to manufacture tubes.

The external thread of the Hybrid tubes eliminates the possibility of the sample coming into contact with the screw thread, minimizing chance of cross-contamination while improving sample integrity. Externally threaded tubes also allow for a higher volume of material to be stored inside, which means that sample tubes can hold more while occupying the same amount of storage space. Compared to traditional cryo vials of similar dimensions, the 2.00ml and 3.00ml tubes provide 30 - 55% more working volume. The optimized working volume of the tubes increase the storage capacity of manual freezers and automated stores.

Micronic tubes are manufactured and assembled in certified class-7 clean rooms at facilities in both the Netherlands and the United States. The sample tubes are RNase/DNase and pyrogen free. The 2.00ml and 3.00ml tubes are available for purchase in bulk and in a Micronic ULT Rack. The racks feature a laser-etched 1D rack barcode on one side and a 'Twist-Lock' to prevent tubes from turning during screw capping or decapping. The Micronic ULT racks are based on the automation friendly ANSI / SLAS rack format and are compatible with Micronic equipment and other automated systems.
