SAW Instruments Launches samX Biosensor Access Program

Biosensor Access Program SAW Instruments, developer of the innovative sam® family of biosensors for real-time, , has launched its new sam®X Biosensor Access Program. Designed to provide access to the sam®X with no capital spend, the program offers a six month lease of the sam®X and includes four free packs of CM short dextran chips for cell work, as well as four free days of application training worth $10,000. With an option to buy after six months, when 100% of the rental money paid is redeemable against the purchase price, the Biosensor Access Program provides the perfect opportunity to see how the sam®X would revolutionize the measurement of biomolecular interactions in your laboratory. Get in contact before the 18th May 2012 to be eligible to take advantage of this exciting offer.

As the new high-end member of the sam® family of acoustic biosensors, the sam®X is designed to provide enhanced workflow flexibility and high-throughput capability when analyzing molecular interactions on cellular surfaces. Using SAW's proven proprietary Surface Acoustic Wave technology, the new system detects mass binding and protein conformational changes on whole cells. Providing unmatched assay speed, SAW's range of sam® acoustic biosensors improve upon many similar detection platforms by offering real-time analysis using viable cells, while eliminating the need for molecular labeling.

Utilizing two sensor chips, rather than the single chip in existing sam®5 models, the new sam®X incorporates eight analysis channels. Thanks to an advanced fluidic system, each channel can be used independently or via combinations of 4 x 2, 2 x 4 or 1 x 8 channels, offering a highly flexible workflow. In addition, different ligands can now be automatically immobilized on-line at each chip position via the fluidics. This eliminates the need for time-consuming, off-line protein loading, while providing more accurate and reliable results.

The new sam®X Biosensor Access Program is a limited time offer. To apply for this exciting promotion, please contact Ian Taylor  before 18th May 2012 - act quickly as there are only a limited number of systems available! Notes on the technology

Surface Acoustic Wave technology is based on the ability of a wave of energy to travel across the surface of a material. Each surface has a typical inherent elasticity affecting the way the energy of the wave dissipates as it travels across the surface of the material being analyzed. Thus, the nature of the surface in question, and therefore any changes to it, can be assessed by sensors monitoring the behavior of the wave as it propagates across the surface. In particular, changes in mass result in alterations to the phase of the wave, whilst viscoelastic and conformational characteristics influence wave amplitude. The technology developed and employed by SAW instruments is capable of accurately interpreting this information in order to provide real time readouts measuring binding and conformational changes in the samples through which the wave passes.

About SAW Instruments GmbH

SAW Instruments GmbH, headquartered in Bonn, Germany, designs, develops and sells biosensor-based laboratory instruments for life sciences research. The proprietary technology of SAW Instruments employs a Surface Acoustic Waves approach to biological measurement, rather than using traditional optical methods such as SPR. The technology is uniquely positioned compared to other biosensor technologies based on its ability to measure antibody binding to whole cells, protein small molecule binding in high DMSO, and conformational changes in proteins caused by ligand binding. In addition, the system is also capable of providing other industry standard measurements including those involving concentration, kinetics and affinity.

SAW instruments has more than ten years experience in the field of label-free biosensor technology and a number of our customers have successfully published work employing the platform. It is our goal is to continue to build on this experience, as well as to develop a family of workflow-driven products to further meet our customers' needs.
