Charities join forces to offer
Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) and Core, the national charity fighting gut and liver disease are collaborating for the first time in order to launch a joint research funding opportunity.
The charities have joined forces to seek applications for a research project covering scientific, clinical and medical aspects of liver disease diagnosed in the paediatric/ adolescent age group (up to the age of 18) for a total award of £200,000.
The grant will be for an established researcher rather than for fellowship applications and funding is restricted to use at UKinstitutions.
The research call invites proposals from all scientific and medical disciplines where applicants are able to demonstrate how their project would advance understanding of the aetiology, pathogenesis or treatment of fibrotic, metabolic and inflammatory hepatic conditions. In applications with an adult perspective, the applicants would need to demonstrate how paediatric / adolescent populations would benefit.
The call specifically excludes applications connected to alcoholic liver disease, social science applications and those requiring funding beyond the life of the grant. Both CLDF and Core are NIHR partner organisations so funded projects will be eligible for NHS service support costs. The deadline for applications is 5pm on 20th December 2013.
