The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) is hosting Scientific and Education Sessions at the 2014 CLSI Leadership Conference and Educational Symposium.

Which will take place from March 24-26, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

The CLSI Education Team has worked hard to offer valuable Scientific and Education Sessions that appeal to a wide variety of laboratorians. These sessions will be presented by a number of well-known speakers with expertise in their respective areas. These sessions are a great way to enhance your knowledge of how to implement CLSI documents, especially in the areas of method evaluation, quality management systems (QMS), and quality control through risk management.

On Monday, March 24, from 5:00-6:30 PM, a panel discussion of two statistical CLSI documents (EP09—Measurement Procedure Comparison and Bias Estimation Using Patient Samples and EP26—User Evaluation of Between-Reagent Lot Variation) will be led by Jeffrey R. Budd, PhD, and Nils B. Person, PhD, FACB, along with Marina V. Kondratovich, PhD.

Tuesday, March 25 will feature three options from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM:

  1. EP23™: Identifying Risks, Assessing Risks, and Understanding How to Create an IQCP
  2. Weathering the Storm: Disaster Planning and Preparedness
  3. Showcasing QMS Through Interactive QSE Stations

Wednesday, March 26 will also highlight three offerings from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM:

  1. EP23™: Creating and Presenting an IQCP
  2. The Cost of Quality in the Clinical Laboratory
  3. The Global Health Initiative: Volunteer Showcase

Document development committee and consensus committee meetings are scheduled throughout the week. CLSI welcomes anyone interested in the document development process to sit in on these meetings.

The 2014 Leadership Conference and Educational Symposium will include a reception on Monday, March 24, from 6:30-8:00 PM for CLSI members and conference attendees to network with like-minded professionals and leaders in their fields. Tuesday, March 25 will include a casino-themed reception from 6:30-8:00 PM, during which CLSI Excellence Awards winners will be presented with their awards.
