EATRIS Partners with Reumafonds to Advance Therapies for Rheumatic Disorders
EATRIS (European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine) has today announced a partnership with Dutch Arthritis Foundation Reumafonds, to advance translational research for rheumatic disorders.
The announcement follows a successful pilot, which saw the two organisations join under the EATRIS Inside model, which offers funders access to translational research expertise and facilities to support the optimisation of their research portfolio.
As part of the new collaboration, EATRIS will support Reumafonds with their projects that seek to translate new scientific insights into promising medicines and diagnostics for a wide range of rheumatic disorders that represent a significant burden to society.
Anton Ussi, operations and finance director at EATRIS comments; “The translation of biomedical discoveries into clinical proof of concept is extremely challenging. Hurdles commonly faced are the determination of medical need, access to the right development expertise and capabilities and compliance to regulatory requirements, which result in a significant waste of time and resources dedicated to public health.
“By working together with visionary organisations like Reumafonds, we can help bring great projects forward in a truly multi-disciplinary and patient-centric setting, to develop the next generation of high impact medicines.”
Ingrid Lether, research and innovation manager at Reumafonds adds; “We’re pleased to partner with EATRIS. Most importantly, it will be the patients who benefit from this collaboration, by getting faster access to new treatments.”
