'Building Bridges in Translational Medicine' EATRIS Announces Second Annual Conference | 27 - 28 May, Amsterdam
The European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine has announced its second conference ‘Building Bridges in TranslationalMedicine’, to be held May 27-28, 2015 in Zuiderkerk, Amsterdam.
For two days pioneers in the field – spanning from researchers, governments, patient organisations, and funders – will discuss the challenges involved in navigating the complex pathways for drug and diagnostics development. Registration is free, but places are limited.
EATRIS is the permanent, academic translational research infrastructure supporting researchers and funders in mitigating risk and adding value to high potential products in biomedical development. It provides industry and academia with access to leading translational research facilities and key expertise across Europe.
The second EATRIS conference follows upon the successful inaugural event in 2013 and will bring together the world’s leading minds in the field of translational medicine including: Dr Christopher P. Austin, Director NIH-NCATS (USA); Prof. Dr. Graziella Pellegrini, Head of Cell Therapy Program, University of Modena e Reggio Emilia (Italy); and Dr. Gregorio Aversa – Senior Vice President, Drug Development, Centre for Drug Research and Development (Canada).
The ‘Building Bridges in Translational Medicine’ conference will examine how to reduce risk in projects through effective collaboration with industry, while leading industry experts will share viewpoints on industry-academia collaboration in public-private partnerships. National funding agencies and charities will attend in order to discuss resources and opportunities to optimise translation, reduce risk, and increase R&D productivity.
Future perspectives will be shared from global collaborators in translational medicine including: National Institutes of Health - National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NIH-NCATS, USA); the Center for Drug Research and Development (CDRD, Canada); Therapeutic Innovation (TI, Australia); and EATRIS member institutions (EU).
Giovanni Migliaccio, Scientific Director of EATRIS, said:
“Success depends on a goal-driven mind set, multiparty collaboration and a full understanding of regulatory requirements. The conference will bring the world’s leading thinkers the field of translational medicine to share thoughts and developments face to face.”
