Organomation has added a new 20 ml vacuum insulated concentrator tube to their glassware product line. The new concentrator tube combines 0.2-20ml end point volume with a reduced height of only 119mm.
The 20 ml tube allows for a larger end point volume than the traditional 10 ml concentrator tube, however small volume end points can still be achieved because the vacuum insulated tip is graduated from 0.2 ml to 2 ml. A 19/22 ground glass joint makes 20 ml the concentrator tube ideal for any standard 250 ml, 500 ml, or 1 L Kuderna-Danish (KD) flask.....

Simultaneous detection of CNVs, SNPs and LOH on a single array using any reference sample
Oxford Gene Technology (OGT), provider of innovative genetics research and biomarker solutions to advance molecular medicine, has released a new microarray to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cancer research. The CytoSure™ Cancer +SNP array (4x180k) combines long oligo array comparative genomic hybridisation (aCGH) probes with fully validated single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) content, providing the superior detection of both copy number variations (CNVs) and loss of heterozygosity (LOH) on a single chip. The array has been optimised in collaboration with Professor Jacqueline Schoumans from the Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland, an expert in both aCGH and cancer genomics...
Genevac reports that its HT Series II Evaporator using the Fast Lyophilisation, or LyoSpeed™ process is enabling a growing number of pharmaceutical labs to routinely dry HPLC fraction samples to a powder form, such that the samples can then be accurately weighed, easily sub-sampled and redissolved.
When working with certain HPLC solvents, such as water and acetonitrile, a fully dried result can be hard to achieve due to interactions with the dissolved sample - resulting in the formation of a gum or oil. To provide a rapid, high-throughput alternative to freeze drying HPLC purification fractions - Genevac developed its proprietary fast lyophilisation (LyoSpeed™) methodology for use on the HT Series II Evaporators. While LyoSpeed™ works well for most hydrophilic samples, difficulties may arise where the sample cannot dissolve in only water...
SciGene today announced the launch of CytoZyme Stabilized Pepsin, an advanced formulation of pepsin for pre-treating tissue samples in nucleic acid probe-based cytogenetic assays including FISH.
CytoZyme is a ready-to-use solution of purified pepsin that can be stored in the refrigerator without loss of activity. It replaces dry powder forms of pepsin that vary in activity that can negatively affect test results. According to Jim Stanchfield, PhD, President and CEO of SciGene, “Variability in FISH/ISH test results is frequently traceable to the protease used to pre-treat patient samples prior to hybridization with nucleic acid probes...
