Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 18:00
Hyatt Regency Baltimore, Baltimore, MD, United States
The International Conference on the Fundamentals of Adsorption (FOA) is the premier international conference in the field of Adsorption. The FOA series of conferences originated in 1983 and a conference in the series has been held every three years since that time. The conference is held under the auspices of the International Adsorption Society (IAS) and is hosted in rotation by the US, Japan and Europe. The conference is attended by researchers in adsorption and related fields from throughout the World. Many of the attendees are Chemical Engineers but there are also large numbers of Chemists, Physicists and members of other disciplines. Moreover the level of industrial participation is high. Thus the conference is an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and information between scientists, engineers in academia and industrial practitioners in the field. A hallmark of the conference is its comprehensive coverage of the spectrum of fundamental research and applications of adsorption, ranging from molecular modeling and simulation of fluids adsorbed in porous materials to the design of pressure swing adsorption systems for industrial gas separation processes. Topics of interest include:
Fundamentals of adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics
Molecular modeling of adsorption phenomena
Adsorbent materials including zeolites, carbons, silicas, metal organic frameworks (MOF’S) and other nanostructured materials
Characterization of adsorbent materials
Liquid phase and gas phase adsorption fundamentals
Multicolumn and simulated moving bed adsorption processes
Biotechnology applications of adsorption including bioseparations and nanopore technology
Energy applications including biofuels, fuel cells, gas storage
Environmental applications including the role of adsorption in green house gas capture and sequestration
