Welcome to the second International Forum on Stem Cells (2010 IFSC), held in Tianjin, China. Continuing with the success of the first IFSC in 2008, this conference is sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS). Organized by the Institute of Hematology/Hospital for Blood Diseases, Center for Stem Cell Medicine at CAMS and the State Key Laboratory of Experimental Hematology of China. The conference will offer you an opportunity to share your recent advances in stem cell research field with other colleagues via our comprehensive scientific program which will cover ES cells and differentiation, “iPS”cells and reprogramming, stem cells in diseases, stem cell transplant and tissue engineering, stem cell manipulations and drug discovery, stem cell applications and business models and open discussion on potential international collaborations. The forum will offer invited or merit-based selected lectures, abstract-based presentation program, pre-forum stem cell workshops and informal social activity so that participants can freely exchange their intellectual ideas. We have confirmed many renowned stem cell research scientists to participate in the meeting.

The hosting city, Tianjin, is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government of China. It is an international harbor and economic center in the north of China with profound historical and cultural heritage. In 2006, developing and opening of Tianjin Binhai New Area became the overall national development strategy of China. Tianjin is only 137 kilometers southeast of Beijing, the capital of China and it takes 30 minutes to travel between these two cities by high-speed intercity train.
