Waters Corporation Introduces RapiZyme Trypsin for Faster Protein Digestion Without Sacrificing Performance

RapiZyme Trypsin is the company’s first standalone enzyme

Waters Corp announces RapiZyme™ Trypsin, a chemically optimized, recombinant trypsin. This trypsin provides gold-standard performance while cutting lengthy digestion times from over three hours to just 30 minutes.

RapiZyme trypsin’s industry-leading autolysis resistance enables use at higher enzyme-to-protein ratios, allowing for rapid and uncompromising 30-minute digestions without resorting to high temperature. This reduces the risk of heat-induced artifact peaks, such as artificial deamidation or oxidation, without compromising digestion performance, reproducibility, or sequence coverage.

RapiZyme trypsin is uniquely lyophilized with LC-MS compatible additive to improve its stability and vial recovery while maintaining high activity upon reconstitution.

Protein digestions are plagued by long digestion times and performance trade-offs. Productivity and data analysis are hampered by messy peptide maps with various non-tryptic peaks. This slows down peptide mapping for structural characterization, protein identification, and more essential applications across the biopharma industry.

For biopharma analytical development, all peaks in a peptide map, even the small ones, must be labeled in regulatory filing. Chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) analytical scientists need an enzyme that provides an exquisite baseline free from noise and artifacts. RapiZyme trypsin provides that, eliminating time-consuming identification and analysis of non-tryptic peaks.
