Syrris is celebrating 20 fantastic years as a world leader in the development of chemistry innovations

Founded in August 2001, the company rapidly became a global provider of versatile automated flow and batch chemistry reactors for a broad range of applications, from synthesis, process optimization and reaction analysis to crystallization, calorimetry and scale-up. Syrris was acquired by the AGI Group – the leading provider of precision manufactured glass processing equipment in Japan – in 2020, a synergy that is a natural addition to the company’s renowned portfolio and expands the AGI Glassplant brand in Europe.

The past two decades have seen Syrris invest significantly in developing novel solutions, from the launch of the world’s first fully automated flow microreactor system, Africa, in 2004, to the award-winning Asia Flow Chemistry System. The Asia Photochemistry Reactor, launched in May 2021, is the latest addition to the Asia product family, and enables chemists to go beyond the constraints of traditional batch chemistry and optimize their photochemistry conditions. The company’s dedicated team of engineers and scientists continue to create groundbreaking solutions to meet emerging needs, improve productivity in R&D chemistry and address the technology challenges faced in various sectors, such as the pharmaceutical manufacturing, petrochemistry, agrochemistry and fine chemical synthesis industries.

Mike Hawes, CEO of Syrris, commented: “We are delighted that Syrris is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year; it’s a big milestone. Our industry-focused approach has enabled us to deliver solutions that combine our science and product engineering capabilities to develop innovative products that meet the day-to-day challenges faced by R&D development chemists and chemical engineers around the world. From humble beginnings, we have grown to become a market leader in flow chemistry andautomated reactor products, and continue to enjoy year on year growth.”
