A new online tutorial video from FLIR Systems demonstrates the comprehensive capabilities of its ResearchIR™ thermal imaging camera control and analysis software.

FLIR ResearchIR software is aimed at R&D and Science users of thermal imaging cameras with a cooled or uncooled detector. FLIR ResearchIR allows you to make the most out of your thermal imaging camera through high speed recording and advanced thermal pattern analysis. ResearchIR is the perfect tool for industrial R&D. ResearchIR Max is available for users that are interested in more advanced science applications.

The software, available in 20 languages, provides a comprehensive set of acquisition, diagnostic and data sharing tools, and features customizable, savable workspaces that allow users to arrange how images, data, charts and plots are displayed. It features zoom and pan capabilities and performs real-time image analysis with a variety of measurement modes.

Software options for preset sequencing and superframing allow researchers to more effectively analyze scenes with large temperature differences or targets with rapid thermal dynamics. An array of enhanced charting and graphing capabilities permits users to create line profiles and temporal plots for all of the measurement tools.

ResearchIR connects directly to FLIR's scientific thermal imaging cameras via USB, Firewire, Gigabit Ethernet and Camera Link, enabling fast viewing of thermal snapshots and movie files. The software supports a range of options, including pre- and post-trigger recording based on user-configured start/stop times, scene temperature thresholds, frame rate and more.

It can export image and plot data graphically as a Bitmap, CSV or Matlab file for reporting or further analysis in other software programs. Thermal movies can be output as standard AVI files with the option to display overlays.

Pioneers in all aspects of infrared technology, FLIR designs, manufactures, and supports thermal imaging systems and subsystems for industrial, scientific, governmental, commercial, and fire fighting applications. With a 40-year history of infrared innovation, over 100,000 systems in use worldwide, and development centres and sales offices in over 60 countries, FLIR is the world leader in thermal imaging technology.
