INTEGRA Biosciences recently hosted a hands-on pipetting and robotics workshop at an Ohio elementary school to inspire the scientists of the future. This fun and educational event aimed to highlight the practical uses of science in our daily lives, and fuel the passions of the scientific and robotics pioneers of tomorrow.

INTEGRA is dedicated to innovation, not just today, but far into the future. This is why Regional Sales Manager, Justin Rosenbloom, and his colleagues recently attended his niece’s small, independent elementary school in rural central Ohio to run a pipetting workshop for the students. Teachers at the school are continually searching for ways to increase student awareness of STEM careers as an essential component of career education. Justin was keen to help with this, so he reached out to the school to arrange a workshop that would foster a passion for science and technology.

The event took place in early May 2024, and included a brief introduction to INTEGRA, an overview of good pipetting practices, and several real-life examples of local businesses using the company’s products, from the nearby Ohio State University to well-known ice cream manufacturers. There were also demonstrations of various INTEGRA liquid handling solutions – including the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot – and students were given plenty of time to try out INTEGRA’s range of manual pipettes, electronic pipettes and serological pipette controllers for themselves.

INTEGRA is also supporting the school’s robotics club with a USD 500 donation, which the company hopes will encourage ongoing investment in the group and motivate students to keep pursuing STEM-based subjects. Justin commented: “This packed workshop was the first of its kind for INTEGRA, and the whole day was highly rewarding for my colleagues and me. I am very grateful for this opportunity to instill a passion for science in the younger generation, and I look forward to potentially running additional similar events to help support the growth and development of more budding scientists.”
