After six years of anticipation, AchemAsia, the International Expo and Innovation Forum for Sustainable Chemical Production, has returned with a renewed spirit, bringing together global expertise, Chinese innovation, and a shared commitment to a greener industrial future. That is the conclusion of the organisers of AchemAsia.

With 267 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, AchemAsia 2025 offered a comprehensive overview of the technologies driving the transformation of the process industries to 10,000 participants from 61 countries and regions. The 12th edition of the international technology trade show and innovation forum for the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in China took place from 14 to 16 October 2025 in the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China.

By far the largest group of exhibitors, 218 companies in total, came from China, reflecting the country’s remarkable dynamism and growing influence in the global innovation landscape. At the same time, there was a strong international presence, led by Germany and other European nations, which accounted to 15% of the exhibitors, highlighting the global nature of this platform.

AchemAsia’s focus on “International Sustainable Chemical Production” was reflected throughout the exhibition and the conference. Across the halls, solutions for energy-efficient process design, digital integration, green chemistry, and circular production systems were presented. At the booths, exhibitors showed a wide selection of tangible technologies that help industries reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency, and strengthen supply chain resilience.

“AchemAsia serves as a bridge between international expertise and local innovation, helping the process industries translate sustainability goals – such as China’s Dual Carbon targets for 2030 and 2060 – into practical action. Our goal is not only to showcase new technology but to foster dialogue”, says Dr Björn Mathes, CEO of DECHEMA Exhibitions.

Sustainability aspects dominated the conference agenda

The conference programme at AchemAsia 2025 comprised a total of around 70 presentations and attracted around 3,000 participants. In the sessions, topics such as energy-saving pumps and valves, advanced separation and mixing technologies, and intelligent control systems that significantly reduce power consumption while maintaining process precision dominated.

In the sessions on Green Chemistry and Sustainable Supply Chain Innovation, experts presented new process intensification methods, closed-loop water systems, and modular plant designs that improve energy utilisation and minimise waste – showing that these technologies are not only environmentally beneficial, but also economically viable, balancing cost control with regulatory compliance by reducing operating costs and increasing production flexibility.

AchemAsia Process Innovation Award

On day one of the show, the AchemAsia Process Innovation Award, presented for the first time in partnership with Vogel Media China, was awarded to 65 winners, recognising their innovations that make measurable contributions to sustainability, safety, and efficiency across the process industries. “Innovation is not only about technology – it is about people. Therefore, AchemAsia provides an ecosystem where the brightest minds from East and West meet, exchange ideas, and collaborate on real solutions. The award symbolises that spirit”, explains Mathes.

Next stop: ACHEMA Middle East 2026 and ACHEMA 2027

The next international ACHEMA events are already in the starting blocks: In 2026, ACHEMA Middle East will kick-off in Riyadh, Saudi-Arabia, marking the beginning of a new era for the region’s process industries. And in 2027, ACHEMA, the world’s leading show for life science and process industries, will be back in Frankfurt am Main, Germany from 14 to 18 June 2027 – setting an even stronger focus on innovations in life science and process industries as well as on energy topics. Registration for exhibitors is already open.

About AchemAsia

AchemAsia – International Expo and Innovation Forum for Sustainable Chemical Production is the international technology trade show and innovation forum for the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in China. With over 250 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, the focus is on the exchange between equipment suppliers and users as well as between scientists and engineers. Since its first edition, AchemAsia has provided a platform for market access, for communication between customers, suppliers and potential co-operation partners, thus creating a basis for innovation in the Chinese process industry and beyond. We have been organising AchemAsia in China for more than 35 years and ACHEMA in Frankfurt since 1920. AchemAsia takes place every three years and is organised by DECHEMA and CIESC (Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China) in cooperation with numerous Chinese and international partners.
