Trajan Accelerator Launches to Drive Long-Term Growth with Start-Ups
Ms Elpis Barons of Barons Medical Consulting announced as Trajan Accelerator General Manager
Trajan Scientific and Medical has announced the commencement of the Trajan Accelerator program, a new collaborative model targeting early stage enterprises sharing Trajan’s vision to positively impact human wellbeing through the application of science into society.
Conceived in late 2015, Trajan Accelerator aims to help start-up businesses cross the “Valley of Death” to build long-term sustainable businesses with the active support of Trajan. The model focuses on medtech companies with technologies, capabilities or markets that will contribute to improved wellbeing.
Ms. Elpis Barons has been appointed the General Manager of Trajan Accelerator, bringing extensive international business experience having nurtured her own business, Barons Medical Consulting which assists international device manufacturers and medical technology organisations through the development and execution of human clinical trials, sales distribution and marketing for the Australian market.
Her passion for seeing the success of start-ups, combined with her knowledge of the clinical market and business acumen will ensure the Trajan Accelerator delivers a long and meaningful impact on human wellbeing across the globe.
She comments: “Through financial and in-kind support to facilitate growth, the Accelerator Company becomes part of the Trajan Group, while retaining a majority share and its identify. This enables the Accelerator Company to focus on their passion, while Trajan facilitates growth and whole business support through marketing, compliance, HR and global supply chain expertise.”
Trajan is not seeking applications for the Accelerator model; rather, the senior management team identify start-ups that fit the specific criteria.
Excitingly, Trajan Accelerator is a tangible example of the Australian Government’s innovation agenda. One of the pillars announced by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in late 2015 focused on changing the way universities and academics are funded, making part of their funding dependent on engaging with industry and successfully creating start-ups from their research.
Trajan Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Stephen Tomisich comments: “We are already been working with a range of candidate companies, many of which have been conceived and centred on a specific product or technology idea. Often that is an exciting place to start our discussions, but our approach moves on from there focuses on evaluating the suitability of the model, for Trajan and for the candidate company.”
