Science World Challenge is Launched
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, recently launched a business mentoring project with local sixth form students.
The ‘Mission to Mars’ project will give the students chance to design and promote their own interactive display, to promote innovative laboratory products alongside leading industry suppliers at Science World 2013.
14 students from Delisle College in Loughborough will work with members of the Fisher Scientific marketing and promotions team, to hone their creative and business skills and gain valuable experience in the commercial world.
The project is the latest initiative for the Thermo Fisher Scientific Community Action Council, which forges links with communities to provide support and opportunities for local people.
Richard Buttinger, Community Development Leader at Delisle College commented “We launched the project with Fisher Scientific as part of National Science and Engineering Week and the students are really excited. They are at a crucial point in their education and gaining professional experience in this way is invaluable”
“We are already impressed by the students’ ideas and professionalism” said Emily Quinton, Marketing Communications Manager and European event coordinator for Fisher Scientific. “We have every confidence that they will produce a brilliant display at the event and are delighted to provide them with this opportunity”.
This year’s Science World event will take place on 10th October at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford. The keynote speakers will be Ben Goldacre and Marcus Du Sautoy.
