Markes International Announced as Finalist for CANMOL 2014 Marketing Awards
The Chartered Institute of Marketing has announced that Markes International (Llantrisant) has been selected as a finalist in two categories for the 2014 CANMOL: Wales Marketing Awards.
CANMOL, which is Welsh for ‘praise’, was set up in 2008 to celebrate and promote excellence in marketing in Wales, and is run by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Markes’ entry focused on the launch of their Select-eV technology, and was shortlisted in two of the eight categories – ‘Construction, engineering, manufacturing’, and ‘Technology and energy’. Each of the three finalists in each category was assessed by at least eight judges, and was marked on the evidence provided of planning, excellence in execution, innovation, and effectiveness.
Competing finalists in the two categories in which Markes has been placed include the household names Mitsubishi Motors and Welsh Water/D?r Cymru.
Markes’ Marketing Manager, Dr Gavin Davies, said “We’re delighted to be a finalist in the 2014 CANMOL marketing awards, and believe that it is a reflection of the considerable effort that went into the successful launch of Select-eV in early 2014.”
Dr Davies explained that Markes wanted to break the mould of new product launches in this field. “Although Select-eV and the associated BenchTOF range of mass spectrometers are highly technical products, we wanted to break with established practice and show that we could make a big impact by marketing it in a bold, creative way”.
The success of the campaign, Dr Davies concludes, can be judged by having engaged with its global target audience and having consolidated Markes’ position as a supplier of highly specialised laboratory equipment. “We are sure that all these factors have been appreciated by the CANMOL judges, and are very much looking forward to the Awards Ceremony on 10 October”, he said.
Markes International manufactures specialist analytical instrumentation for trace organic analysis. It is renowned as a global market leader for analytical thermal desorption and for developing ground-breaking time-of-flight MS technology for gas chromatography. In January 2013, Markes became part of the Mulheim-based German family business Schauenburg International Group, and has technical support centres in the UK, USA and Germany.
