The Innovation Institute Welcomes Dr. Christina Waters, Life Science Innovation Expert

The Innovation Institute announced today that Dr. Christina Waters has joined the organization to serve as the Innovation Lab Executive in Residence, specializing in life science innovation.

christina watersShe is CEO and Founder of RARE Science, a non-profit research organization that enables the rare scientific research community to accelerate discovery of therapeutic solutions for kids with rare diseases. She serves as a Scientific Advisory Board Member for the Global Genes|Rare Project, which focuses on advocacy and education for the rare disease community. She formerly served as a life science strategic consultant and senior advisor for Personalized Medicine and Health Informatics for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Personalized Medicine and Health Sciences Practices.

Dr. Waters received her Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis as a NIH Biotechnology Fellow. She was a Postdoctoral Scholar and Associate of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the Division of Biology, California Institute of Technology. Dr. Waters also completed an NIH Postdoctoral fellowship at University of California, Berkeley, and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University. Dr. Waters received her MBA from University of California, Los Angeles.

Waters will speak at the BioData World Congress West 2017 on April 26-27 at Hotel Kabuki, San Francisco. She was recently nominated for the Athena Pinnacle Awards as an individual, and also for RARE Science. Athena's Pinnacle Awards recognize the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) leaders of today and tomorrow who have shown dedication to promoting Athena's mission of fostering the personal and professional growth of women through mentoring, education, recognition, and leadership training.
