High Level Scientists from all Over the World Attend 3RD International One Health Congress 15-18 March 2015 | Amsterdam | The Netherlands
From 15-18 March, the 3rd International One Health Congress (IOHC2015) will be organized in RAI Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The 3rd International One Health Congress brings science and policy together aiming at the early recognition and control of emerging (infectious) diseases that have a growing impact on humans, animals and their ecosystems. Attendees from over 60 countries will participate in this high level congress. Nobel laureate Peter Doherty will participate in the opening ceremony as a keynote lecturer.
Recent outbreaks of zoonotic diseases all over the world like Ebola, and MERS, but also avian influenza in the Netherlands, again demonstrate the worldwide threat and socio-economic impact of infectious diseases and underline the need for close international collaboration. The 3rd International One Health Congress will focus on how science can help in preventing re-emerging (infectious) diseases at the source. ‘It is crucial to identify the predisposing factors for the occurrence of newly emerging infectious diseases’, says Ab Osterhaus, chair of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of IOHC2015.
Another important topic concerns antibiotic resistance of bacteria. During IOHC2015, both medical and veterinary drivers and alternatives for the use of antibiotics will be discussed.
